About wallcovering

What type of wallcovering material can be used?

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a common material used for wallcoverings, where the back side is made of a paper (lining paper) substrate over which an adhesive paste is spread to coat the paper.
Other special materials besides PVC include washi (traditional Japanese paper), paper, fabric, diatomaceous earth, foil (gold or silver), cork and lacquer. There are also other materials attached with sequins or glass beads.
As mentioned in the special notes, our wallcovering products are made in rolls with a width of 92 cm. Therefore, three dimensional expressions such as surfaces with lots of concavo-convex are not allowed.
If a material is specified that is difficult to produce in rolls, it will be difficult to make that into a product.
Please consider using thin and flexible material that is suitable for use as a wallcovering.
If the design is difficult to make into a product, we may ask you to change the material.

Does the wallcovering have to be applied vertically?
In addition, can I use different methods to apply (horizontally or in parts) the wallcovering and incorporate such methods into my design?

The wallcovering can also be applied in a horizontal direction.
We also accept designs that are based on a horizontal application or ones that are applied in parts.

Does the special note "three dimensional expressions such as surfaces with lots of concavo-convex are not allowed" mean that embossing cannot be used?

Embossing can be used.
Avoid using a design if it includes a three dimensional decoration on the surface that prevents the wallcovering from being rolled up.

Can a pearl-like color be used in the design?

Yes.

About Projects for Submission

When a submission has a large pattern design that uses the full A2 size (landscape layout), it is possible that a portion of the pattern design may extend beyond the trim edge.
To avoid that, should I use a conceptual drawing to explain the design?

If the pattern design is larger than an A2 size, use a conceptual drawing to express the entire design.
There is no specification to indicate a trimming location. Therefore, cut out and use the most representative or expressive part of the design or concept

Is it OK to use any paper or drawing material for the design illustration?

There is no specific drawing material or paper that must be used for the design illustration.
Feel free to express your design either by outputting digital data or by freehand.
However, always affix the design illustration to a artboard for submission.
*Refer to entry requirements

You specify artboard of 1 mm or thicker, but I’m told by the art supplies store that they don’t carry those thicknesses. Would a good quality art paper work as long as it is not flimsy?

Some stores may not carry artboard of 1 mm or thicker or may be out of stock. We regret the trouble, but please try another store or look online.

When I print out the template for “C. 1/10 Scale Drawing of Your Wallpaper”, it comes out smaller than the stated dimensions.

Your printer settings may be set to reduce the size of images. Make sure that your printer is set to “actual size” printing.
